Arriving in Bangkok

Hi everyone,

So here my travel blog begins :o)
Having spend my last to days in Germany with my friends Dennis and Nadine at their place in Frankfurt, I arrived in Dubai on Sunday for a one day in between stop on my way to Bangkok.
Here my sister's friend Korinna, who's working in Dubai, picked me up for Breakfast and Dinner and gave me some advice what to see in one day.

It's not really my type of place, since it feels kind of artificial and scattered too broadly; and it's definitely not made for pedestrians! However it's still an impressive place, considering it was village without even one paved street until 50 years ago. And the architects they got themselves for the skyscrapers mostly knew their job well (but most of them appear to be at least half empty).

Then this morning I arrived in Bangkok. I got pretty hassle-free to my guesthouse (which is really nice) using the cityline train (very recommendable). The taxi driver from the train station of course tried to get to wherever the ** but not to where I needed to go. Luckily I had gotten myself a city map right at the airport (highly recommendable). And after I made clear that I knew the way, the guy grudgingly accepted to get me there straight.
No more cabs for me if not necessary.

The riverboats and trains are nice and seem to pretty much suffice for the main tourist attractions for anyone willing to walk for 20 minutes once in a while.

Well so much for today. I'll make sure to add more pictures than text from tomorrow on ;-)
